This happened to me with Micheline when I was taking French. The name came up in our textbook and the teacher (straight from Normandy) mentioned how it was considered an old and ugly name by modern French standards - that no one would name their newborn daughter that today. I've loved the name Micheline since I was in like the 7th grade
