André not French? Lol. It is 100% French; only recently adopted by English-speaking blacks. As for Rosa, it's not uncommon for the French to use versions ending with -a. Past people did borrow naming influence from other languages, especially a closely related one like Spanish is to French.Marie and Jean-Baptiste are the Catholic influence coming in. Marie was stupidly common; in fact I'm pretty sure almost all girls of past Québécoise generations had Marie as a first name, using their second name in everyday life.
