It's just a matter of personal taste. Every name has at least one person who dislikes it.
I don't really like the name Lyra either. I think it's overrated. I'm not that big on astronomy names, and Lyra is also pretty close to Lira, which is a common surname in Brazil. (It's also the name of the mint green pony on MLP: FIM, Lyra Heartstrings, and that show's fanbase is awful.) I don't like His Dark Materials either.
