Unless the name was extremely uncommon, I don't think it would matter to me, I'd use the name as planned.
Heck, even if it WAS a super unique name and I somehow had the bad luck to meet an unpleasant person who shared it, I think I'd still use it. Because chances are good that people who know me aren't going to seriously wonder if I named my kid after an annoying person I barely know.
