Mairead is Irish. Though there are similarities between Gaelic pronounced Gaylic in
Ireland and Galic in Scotland. Both are spelled the same way. Less than 1% of the population in Scotland speak Gaelic and it was never spoken in the lowlands where we spoke Lallans. We still use words in Lallans today.
