As an Afrikaans speaking South African, I've never seen this one. My best guess is a misspelling of Marquis. But who knows, maybe the parents are a multicultural couple with a Spanish side?

ETA: taking into account the cultural penchant for combining grandparent names, it could well be Markus + Jacques.
