Spanish

Spanish is the language spoken in modern day Spain, Latin America and other places. It is the 2nd most spoken language in the world with about 387 million native speakers *.

Spanish is one of the Romance languages descended from Latin. It is derived from the language that was spoken in the region of Castile, so it is sometimes called Castillian to differentiate it from the other languages spoken in Spain, such as Catalan and Galician.
