Love this spelling! I also named my son Aedan in 2006. ;)
I named my son Aedan in 2006 because of my Irish heritage. I have a friend from Ireland who told that it translates to "born of fire", rather than "little fire"- I'm not sure how accurate that is, but heck, I like the way it sounds.
We've come across a couple names that sound the same (Aiden, Aidan, Aden)- but we have yet to meet another AEDAN, so I'm quite fond of his name.
I think Aedan is the best form of this name for most folks. (Aodhán is also lovely, but more difficult to pronounce for people outside Ireland or those unfamiliar with Irish pronunciation.) It's better-looking than the highly popular, trendy Aiden in my opinion.
