It’s an ok name but I hate the singer.
I have this name, and it’s a nightmare because of the singer. But it’s a good name.
I really really like this name but I wouldn't use it because of the association with the popular singer Adele.
I personally love this name. It’s simple but very attractive and I find it hard to dislike.
Kind of punky and trendy in some way. A little sharp, but still a cool name to me in my opinion.
I like it, but I prefer Adela.
Love the singer, love the name.
Actually, it's quite a boring name. Really, nothing much good about it. Just, well, just boring.
This is my name. Pronounced AD-ELE. I get called Dellie, Del, Ad, Addie. I absolutely hated my name growing up as I could never get anything with my name on and so many people cannot pronounce it properly. A select few I tolerate calling me Dellie but most people shorten it to Del.
I think it’s quite pretty!
It looks and sounds pretty, but most people will immediately think of the singer.
I love this name! I like the related names like Adelaide or Adeline a lot too, but I think Adele is better. The only downsides of this name for me are the nickname Addie, which I really don't like, and the association with Adele - the singer. - I really do like Adele, I think she's very talented and I have nothing against her whatsoever, but I am also not a crazy fan of hers either, and she's so popular, and I just wouldn't like people to think or constantly ask me if I named my daughter after her. So if I wanted to use this name, I'd probably use it as a middle, because it's great as a middle, or use it as a nickname for Adeline or Adelinda or Adella or something. It also makes me think of Adele Varens from Jane Eyre. I like how fresh and sweet it sounds and can suit a girl and woman of any age.
I like it. :)
This name makes me think of Adele Mara or the singer, Adele. Both aren't bad associations. I like the nickname Elle, but not Addie.
I quite like this name.
This is a beautiful name, but it will simply become too associated with the singer, like Cyndi or Britney in the 80s or 90s, so I recommend using it solely as a diminutive of Adelaide, so she doesn't get too much singer comments. It still is a nice name with a wonderful meaning,
I named my now 4 year old daughter Adele. I loved it because it's rare to hear of it and thought it a simple, beautiful name. I often get asked... After the singer? My withering look answers that question! :)
My name is Adele. Growing up I hated my name, oftentimes because people made fun of it, singing The Farmer in the Dell, or simply not pronouncing it correctly, or if I said my name they would say "A What"? I have grown to appreciate my name, but hope it doesn't become overused because of a singer!
I know one person whose name is Adele, she's in her 50's. It has a Germanic feel to me and it's kind of fun to write in cursive (silly reason, I know). I probably wouldn't use it in real life, but it's certainly pleasant for the right person.
Adele is a very classy, beautiful name! :D It's annoying how it's really, really strongly associated with the singer... (-̩̩-̩̩͡_-̩̩-̩̩͡) (if I ever do use this name I don't like how some people may assume I'm naming my child after Adele when that wouldn't be my intention). ANYHOO I still ♥ the name nevertheless. ☺.
Wow, the singer has really brought it back into popularity!
This is a very nice name, but unfortunately everyone will associate it with Adele. Not that she's a bad singer, but it seems that everyone here has a habit of hating celebrity associations with names.
I think it's too short but this name had a strength to it and it seem bold.
I think this is pretty, but I wouldn't use it because people would think I used it because of that tacky singer.
Oh god, ADELE mania is spreading. After being out of the top 1000 names in the US for the last 30 years it is now #908. It will be like when Britney became very popular around the same time as Britney Spears was in her heyday. When I first heard of the singer I thought she had such a lovely name and I could see why she went only by her first name. Too bad this name is now synonymous with the gorgeous and talented British singer, it's so lovely and should be used more often.
I love 'Adele' as a middle name- Bethany Adele. It's so pretty and girly. :)
I think it's pretty, when I try to ignore the fact that it reminds me of "A farmer in the dell".
I think this is a very pretty, feminine name that would suit all ages. It's very underused - maybe time for it to make a come-back.
This sounds good in the European pronunciation, where you enunciate the final "E". But otherwise, it sounds dated and old.
