Aella... a beguiling series of notes trilling up for a concert. A sonnet written in the language of the gods, each syllable is a thunderous reflection of the heavens' occasionally tempestuous nature. She is the eldest of the untamed zephyrs and the unrestrained passion of this mythic storm. She spins her ethereal, romantic parables with a fervor forever immortalized in the verses of the Greek pantheon... astonishing!
We gave our daughter the name Aella as her middle name. I met her father and fell pregnant 7 weeks later and the situation was the epitome of a whirlwind hence the name! I love the fact that is is such a pretty but under used name with such a great meaning.
Hello, I'm Greek and I named my daughter Aella.
My baby was a very independent and capable little girl and I wanted to honour her by giving her a very rare and special name. So me and my sister looked and searched in a large encyclopaedia book and my sister found it...
Aella. I was truly amazed by the sound of it and really proud of its origin. Aella was the faster Amazon and she was the daughter of the mythical god of war Mars (Ares in Greek) and the mythical goddess Harmony. I was sure that this would be the perfect name for her and so I acted. It is true though that lots of people pronounce it wrong. The right pronunciation is A like Apple, E like tell, and final A also like Apple. The intonation is at the beginning, at the first A.
Thank you..
Definitely a nice, refreshing alternative to Ella.
I found it very interesting that people can comment on the names they like, mostly this one, so I'd like to share my thoughts as well. My name is Aella and I am Greek. I can't tell you how blessed I feel that my parents decided to give me such a unique name. Every time I meet new people I know they're going to ask me the origin of the name and of course most of them will ask me to say it a couple of times so that they'll understand the pronunciation. There are also people who can't remember it or can't pronounce it very well so I'm used to having a lot of nicknames. But I must say, they love it every single time. I love people's reactions, their questions, their comments. I love that no one forgets it (even if sometimes I wish they would). I also love the power of its meaning and it never gets tiring to explain it. I love the fact that no one else has the same name, it makes me feel rare and unique.
I hope people will start giving their children the opportunity to feel special just by giving them a uncommon and wonderful name like this one.
A pretty name with an interesting meaning. It has a nice sound to it, and is better than plain Ella (which is quite nice too) in my opinion. Will consider using this name for later.
Interesting name... Aella does have a certain appeal and it's a nice alternative to the overused Ella!
I absolutely love the name Aella! My favorite name of all time, sweet and soft but with such strength. A beautiful choice for my hopefully future daughter.
This name has the coolest meaning! Unfortunately, I think some may have trouble pronouncing it if they didn't know how to correctly say it.
This name is actually quite beautiful, but I think people will have problems pronouncing it. ): I love it pronounced ay la.
It is a pretty name, but a little too out-there for me. I would be too worried my child would be teased if I named my child this.
This name is soo cute! It is so different, but has the look and sound of a beautiful classic name! I think the meaning is cute too!
What a nice name!
Aella is such an interesting name! I really like it and I think it's an easy way to avoid the name Ella with out completely excluding it. Ella is becoming more popular as time goes on, so Aella is a great alternate form so to speak. Also it has a really uncommon meaning. I have never seen a name that meant "Whirlwind", which is how parenthood feels sometimes! hahahA! How ironic. I hope this name gets the credit it deserves one day! =)
