I love the name Alessandro. Like many of its variants, it is very common, but refined and timeless at the same time. This will be one of the middle names for my future son.
Against the odds I know two people with this name! I have a friend named Alessandro who has never been to Italy or anything but always uses it in full. Meanwhile, my boyfriend is Italian, also named Alessandro, and he has never ever in his life used the full version! He always goes by Sandro. I think it's a shame because it's a beautiful name.
I LOVE the name Alessandro; it's been my favourite masculine name for a long time.
Like other people mentioned, I like saying it out loud because it has rhythm and rolls off the tongue. I also think this name is masculine and strong yet refined, romantic, and elegant - all at the same time. Also, according to an article I've read, Americans consider it to be one of the top 10 sexy masculine names; as an Italian, I totally agree!
The name Alessandro has been quite popular in Italy for a long time; it was at its peak a few decades ago when it was the most popular name for boys, and is still one of the top 5 most popular masculine names. It's used in other European countries, like France or Switzerland, as well. But I can understand why it's so popular!
One example of a good namesake is my favourite Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli, whose full name was Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi.
Common nicknames for the name Alessandro are Ale, Alex, and Sandro. Personally, my favourite nickname for this name is Sandro; if my name was Alessandro, that's what I would probably use as a nickname.
If I have any sons in the future, I'm definitely going to name one of them Alessandro; I can't get over how much I love this name! ❤️.
Like Alejandro, Alessandro has a rhythm to it that I love saying out loud. Plus, you get the cute nickname Sandy out of it.
I think Alessandro doesn't really work for people from English-speaking countries unless they have some kind of connection with Italy. Anyway, if used wisely, Alessandro makes a very classy and sophisticated name.
