For a native German speaker this name is forever linked to a comedy piece by Ludwig Thoma titled 'Der Münchner I'm Himmel' (A man from Munich in heaven). It was frequently played by German Radio stations. The main protagonist of the piece is a beer loving man from Munich who misses the beer in heaven. Aloysius Viktor Stepinac (8 May 1898 – 10 February 1960) was a Croatian Catholic cardinal who was Archbishop of Zagreb from 1937 to 1960. Due to actions and accused collaborations with fascists during WWII, he was found guilty of war crimes and high treason. He sentenced to 16 years in prison; he only served 5 years. He was appointed cardinal in 1952. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1998.
