My mother's name is Alyce. She pronounced it as Alice. Her mother put in the y for some reason, I do not know.

My mom named me after the restaurant called Alyce's. People pronounce it as Alice. Yes, I answer to it when I have to then I correct the person. To the other Alyce's, we can make a group. :)

My name is Allyce with an extra l. The same as the actress Allyce Beasley, both pronounced the same as Alice. I personally love how my name is spelt, it's lovely to have a unique name, and almost everybody I meet pronounces my name correctly first time they say it.

My daughter's name is Alyce (pronounced like Alice). She's 3, almost 4 and she loves her name. Everyone I talk to says her name is so pretty and they love the way it's spelled because it's unique. I like names that are unique but simple enough for them to not get made fun of. My other kids names are Wyatt-boy and Lenna-girl.

It's my name, and I like it. I used to hate it because everyone mispronounces it, but now think it's quite pretty. It's good having a name that almost no one else has. I've never met another Alyce spelt the same way as mine, only an Elise and an Alyse. It's kind of an old-fashioned name, but sweet.

Why do people feel the need to shove a 'y' everywhere nowadays? Is it to balance out the times when people shoved an 'i' everywhere?

Ruining perfectly good names? I personally happen to like this spelling--it's different, and interesting, (how often do you see a "y" in the middle of a name?) not that there was anything wrong with the original "i" spelling.
But you should know, if you look at the "Popularity" section for this spelling--it was most popular during the early 1900s, so this isn't something "stupid" recent people are doing.
