I have some use in my family of this name, Canadian French Catholic. It was most common in the 1700s from the records I've seen.
Also used in Spanish.In Spain, there are 1,328 male bearers and 402 female bearers (source: Instituto Nacional de Estadística).
Although this name is usually male, it has been used for females as well. [noted -ed]
One of my ancestors was called Francois Amable Martin. He was born in Quebec, Canada in 1759.
Honestly, I don't think this name really exists. Not anymore, anyway, or not in France.
