I agree with one of the previous posters, this name does sound quite old-fashioned. It can also be used for females.

Auguste sounds more refined and handsome then plain, simple August. It has a classy air to it.

I am a female with this as my middle name, except it is pronounced o-goost-a. It's definitely odd to have it as a name, but it's pretty.
