Love the name, went so far to name a character of mine Augustus, but then remembered that the only feasible nickname you can get out of it is… Gus. Ugh.
It reminds me of Augustus McCrae from Lonesome Dove.
Love it if not that Augustus (Octavian) Caesar ruined it...
I instantly think of Augustus Gloop from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." Is it just me, or...?
Very cool name, since it means: venerated and that gives it a regal feeling. In addition, I was born in August too.
I love this a middle name and possibly a first name, but I really dislike the nickname Gus. Gus takes the name from regal to ugly.
I happen to like this name. I’d probably use it as a middle name rather than a first name but I think Augustus is very classy and regal.
Augustus is a fine classical name that preserves the transcendent magnificence of Latin. Shame on the tools who fail to witness splendor of a better age.
Ugh, I hate this name. Augustus sounds so gross, like the word "disgusting." Augustus Disgusting. But "Gus" is a fine name. :)
I honestly like this name and want to name one of my boys Augustus. It is uncommon, unique, as well as noble and true. It also reminds me of the character from The Fault In Our Stars, a John Green novel.
It's a cool name. It might take a while for your young one to spell it out, but it's very royal as well.
Very strong and male name.
I think this is one of the most beautiful male names in the English language. My son is named Augustus (for my grandfather), and my uncle, one cousin and great-grandfather all had the name as well. It is a name of strength and venerability - I do believe that helps give a child a good start in life. Use it!
