Blaise

I personally don't care for this name and it's likely that I never will. However, the spelling is at least decent. I wouldn't recommend this name but if it absolutely HAD to be used, I would implore you to stick to the original spelling.

Strange! Never heard of this name before, but it's not bad!

I knew a boy called Blaise and I thought it was a splendid name when I heard it. I thought he spelt it 'Blaze' though, but apparently not. Blaise is so much better, I have no association with marijuana whatsoever either.

Lovely name, leave this for the boys though.

I like the name but I think of it as feminine. I once worked with a lady who named her daughter Blaise.

I actually know a girl named Blaise, I always thought it was a solely masculine name but it suits her really well. She does complain sometimes that she has such an unusual and masculine name, but it's very unique and definitely suits her confident fiery personality. I think you'd have to have the right personality as a girl to suit this name, and of course you won't know what personality your child will have until they grow up so it's a bit hit and miss. Nonetheless, I think it's a lovely and uncommon name for a boy, I much prefer this spelling over any other.

I like Blaise, but not Blaze or the marijuana thing. I would not use it because of that, but I don't see anything wrong with it on someone else's child.

Blaise is a wonderful masculine name. To spell it any other way cheapens it. I am considering this name to go along with big brother Roman.

My name is Blaise and I love it so far. A lot of people think it's a nickname from time to time or if it's a first impression. I am a guy, and so far I just get high-fives or even a look that says "that is one cool name." That's just in my point of view though!

I've always loved this name. I don't see it as feminine at all, mainly because any Blaise I've known has definitely been a male! It's also the main love interest for the protagonist in Vera Cowie's novel 'Fortunes'. Also male.
It's a shame that the meaning behind the name is lisping, as it is a beautiful name for a boy.

"Lisping"? God forbid any twelve year old with a classmate named Blaise be given access to this site. The latter wouldn't survive the sixth grade.

I always associate this name as being distinctly feminine, possibly because when I was very young I read a book in which there was a sultry young witch named Blaise as a character. Plus, the -aise ending seems more effeminate to me than masculine. I find this a unique name; it looks delicate, but packs a punch.

I've always liked the name Blaise as a girl's name, even though the meaning is not exactly fabulous, and it is considered a boy's name. I first encountered it in a book where a character named Blaise was a witch and a highly unpleasant person, but I still liked her name. It seems so fresh, delicate and just slightly exotic.

I have never really liked this name or the meaning of it.

I'm loving this name, can't wait to have another child. It's so different from the norm and is lovely.
