What this is is taking a term from another culture and religion without fully comprehending it because you think it's cool and using it as a name. That is the literal definition of cultural appropriation. An actual Buddhist would not call their child this. When I picture the kind of parent that would bestow this name upon their child, I picture a white person with dread locks and other people's tribal tattoos on their skin.
If you like this name for your child, I suggest using Odie, Jody, Brody, Toby, Bowie or Cody instead.

Sounds hippie and also sounds like "Body". Kids would make a joke about that one.

This name has cultural appropriation written all over it. Actual Buddhists don't name their kids Bodhi.

This is just awful. It is usually used by hipster parents who don't know the first thing about Buddhism. Just a trendy, terrible fad-name.
