Candela is an SI base unit in chemistry used to measure luminous intensity. I think that this usage gives it a sort of new meaning altogether that I really like. Luminous intensity seems like a worthy meaning for a name.

Candela is a beautiful name. This may sound dumb, but it makes me think of candles glowing softly in the dark. I love the way it rolls off the tongue.
