My name is Caramia. Most people call me Mia but I love my full name. It has a beautiful meaning and I have never met someone with the same name as me. I love that I am unique and I think it is a beautiful name for a child.
Addams family anyone?
I actually like it. There are many names that make me cringe, but this is not one of them. The meaning is incredibly sweet. There are worse things for a name to be associated with...
I also prefer it to Caramina.
I like it, think it's sweet and everything. The only thing is, is that I keep associating it with macadamia nuts in my head. I think they rhyme, too, if I'm pronouncing Caramia right.
I am first generation Italian American. I just named my daughter this but made it first name Cara, middle name Mia for risk of being too cheesy. But I call her Caramia and everyone who hears her name loves it. I wanted to pay homage to my roots and thought it was such a beautiful, clever name and I had never heard anyone named that before. But when I told my aunt (who is Italian and lives there) her name when she was first born she said "Why did you name her that? That must be an American thing because we would never name a child that." So my inkling in making it 2 names was correct. As far as pronunciation I'm from NY and I don't pronounce it Care-uh or Car-uh but Cah-ruh. I think they all sound beautiful but for whatever reason I pronounce it that way. That's the one thing I didn't realize about a name like Cara is that every single person we meet would be pronouncing her name their way. People that matter I correct but people who may never see her again I just let go. So at first it was a little annoying but now I like that there's different ways to say it because when my daughter is older she can get to decide how she wants her name pronounced. It's like after the fact she has a say in what her name is. And then I will honor her wishes.
Sounds like caramel, which makes it rather sickly.
This is quite tacky to anyone who knows Italian (and if you don't, its quite easy to figure out what these two words mean) it's a cute idea, but maybe just making her first name cara and her middle name Mia is better. Although I can't say I like the name Mia as a full name. Yuck. Yeah, maybe don't use this for a real child.
I totally and absolutely adore this charming name. Not only does it have a beautiful meaning (my beloved, sign) but it fits both a young child and a mature woman. I think not absolutely sure but it is on my list of names for a daughter.
Quite pretty! I like this name!
