Cassiopeia

While this name is beautiful and hard to tease, it's quite a mouthful and is hard to pronounce unfortunately.

This is one of my favorite names. It's hard to tease, has a lot of good nicknames, and is all around so beautiful!

This is my daughter's name. She changed the pronunciation from Cassio PEE a to Cassio PAY a. She normally goes by Cassie but is starting to go by Cassiopeia more and more. Although she has never used it I also really like the nickname Cassio. She is very feminine, hard working for her grades (over 4.0), clever (one of the meanings of Cassie/Cassi was clever and I liked that a lot and that fits her well), very artistic, kind. She was always meant to be a Cassiopeia.

It's very beautiful. Cassia or Cassie make good nicknames too, but if I were named Cassiopeia, I'd want to be called by my full name.

My name is Cassiopeia. I have never met another with my name. My parents called me Cassie for short. I used to hate it as a child because it was so different. I got teased a little but not so much in a bad way. I love it now because it is so different and I get many compliments.

I like this name, it sounds elegant and regal. I prefer the nickname "Cassia" over "Cassie", I don't know why, it just sounds better to me.

Sounds rather arrogant and pretentious on a child. I can imagine a girl with this name being very full of herself.

I've always pronounce this name like cah-see-OH-pee-ah. That's how we were taught to say it in English class when learning mythology and in my astronomy class when looking at the constellation. It's a very beautiful name though, I would love to use this for a little girl someday and maybe sometimes call her Cassi.

I received a Greek Mythology encyclopedia, and this name was listed as just Cassiope. I read on Wikipedia "Her name in Greek is Κασσιόπη, Kassiope". Not sure which I like better. Cassiopeia is really pretty and girly. Cassiope has a nice sound to it too, like popular Penelope with the nickname Cassie. I'm not sure people would pronounce Cassiopeia right, but it's beautiful and different which I love.

I think this is a pretty name, but I'd prefer to pronounce it "cass ee OH pee a"--emphasis on the "O".

This name is great, I totally love it, and would consider it for a future daughter. It's just so pretty and feminine and strong. The only downside is that it's so long and I don't like any of the nickname choices.

I pronounce this name cassio-PAY-ah, so ne pee sound in there. I don't mind this name but it would get shortened to Cassie which I really dislike. I don't think that it would be good to give this name to one sister & Andromeda to another as the original bearers were mother & daughter, it's like calling siblings Romeo & Juliet! Just icky!?!

Cassiopeia has to be one of the most beautiful names I've ever heard. I wish wish wish it was my name! It's so strong, beautiful and elegant, plus there are so many nickname opportunities (Cass, Cassy, Pia, etc!) There could, of course, be problems with spelling and pronunciation, but that wouldn't put me off. Any girl called Cassiopeia is INCREDIBLY lucky to have such a perfect name!

I think any name containing the word "pee" should be avoided. The playground can be hell, folks.

Oh my God how cool it would be to have two daughters named Cassiopeia and Andromeda!
