My name is Minh Châu. Although the meaning is beautiful (shining pearl) it has the same pronunciation as "trâu" (buffalo). Buffalos are linked with cow which is a slang for stupid. Also "trâu" is also in an another Vietnamese slang "trẻ trâu" which means "immature and rampant". I once hated my name for that. After I discovered the actual meaning, I started to love my name more.
