As a couple comments below have stated, there is a supporting protagonist in the Harry Potter series called Cho Chang. She is Scottish by nationality, but Chinese by ethnicity. Chang attended Hogwarts from 1990-1997 and she briefly dated Harry Potter during the 1995-1996 school year.
Don't know if they are 'famous' but here are some other people who posess either the given or surname of cho:Cho Chikun (Korean Go player), Alina Cho (CNN newslady), David Yonggi Cho (Korean Christian Minister), Frank Cho (comic writer), Cho Hunhyun (Korean Go player), Fujio Cho (1999 president of Toyota Motor co.*), John Cho (Korean-American actor), Liz Cho (American newcaster), Margaret Cho (American comedian), Cho U (Chinese GO player), Cho Ramaswamy (actor/columnist), Cho Hakkai (fictional Chinese male character in 'Saiyuki'), Bo' Rai Cho (fictional character in Mortal Kombat)*Though he was in-charge of the Toyota company, he was not Japanese. He is known to be the second outsider appointed president.
"Butterfly"? That would explain the meaning of the name Cho-Cho San (the real name of the title character in Puccini's Madame Butterfly). If it didn't mean "beautiful" instead, that is.
This is the name of a character in the popular "Harry Potter" books.

This is a name of a character in the "Harry Potter" books as the first comment says. I always had known that name had been something in the Japanese language.
