I used to know a girl named Chyna, and personally it was a bad association. However, knowing her allowed me to view this name on a person; I had thought that it only belonged to China (the country). This being said, I don't care much for this name, only due to its similarity to China (the name of a country). Despite that, I don't think that it's the worst thing in the world to name a person.
Such a cute name! It is not trashy in any way, shape, or form. I think it's more common on black girls, and that's nothing to be ashamed about.
This name is not "trashy", per se. But it's not something I would use. The whole "swapping i's out with y's" thing is probably a way to make names more kre8tyv. All in all, I prefer China. This doesn't look right.
This is not trashy or made up. It’s just an I swapped for a Y, get over it.
I think you should use China instead. This doesn't look...trashy, but the spelling is a little strange.
This name seems a little... Different, but that doesn't make it trashy! To all the Chinas and Chynas out there: Your name is awesome! You can do anything if you set your mind to it! Also, many of you are saying, "this name is rude and disrespectful because it's misspelled," when in fact, you're the only ones being rude and disrespectful by logging into a name site specifically to post negatively about people named Chyna. Maybe the problem isn't the Chynas.
Horrible.
Trashy and made-up. Misspelling it seems ignorant and disrespectful as well.
Changing the spelling will still be acceptable and even more edgy-er.
Gosh no. China is bad enough but this is atrocious. Also the Black Chyna association.
This name is a ugly, and trashy! It has no dignity whatsoever and China is a bad name already!
Trashy and made up. Enough said.
I like it 'cuz it's not a country name, it's based upon one!
It will be "Chyna" with a "y" 'cause I think that's sexy as hell.
Even MORE trashier than China. Yuck yuck.
I don't like the idea of misspelling stuff for names, it's kinda trashy and tacky. China is already a beautiful, rare name, so you don't need to tart it up!
This spelling is even dumber, trashier, and more inappropriate than China.
China is tacky enough, as it's the name of a country, and the sort of parents who choose the name surely don't have any ties to the country, but just like the sound of it as a name, and that makes them seem ignorant and quite superficial. Misspelling China seems even tackier. It does rather seem disrespectful to the country and the culture, and people with Chinese heritage would never use China to begin with, certianly not a bastardized spelling of it.
It sounds pretty but a misspelling of a country's name looks tacky.
I'm sorry but I feel that purposely altering or misspelling a country, city, or state name is disrespectful for the both the people of these places and the places themselves.
This name is horrible!
There was an 11-year-old girl in my local newspaper recently, whose name was given as "Chyna Queen [Surname]". I have since posted on this site about it and the response to just Chyna has been overwhelmingly in it's opposition, to say the least. In my opinion, this name seems a bit trashy, and will never be inducted onto my Personal Name List (sorry, don't wish to grieve anyone in Chyna's favor!).
