Cornelia is a pretty name and it's a good name for a fictional character.
It’s is a very beautiful name to have.
When I first saw the meaning of this name I was a a little disappointed, ‘horn’ isn’t the most glamorous meaning, but then I thought, it actually reminds me of a unicorn horn! Then on top of that I realized…CORNelia, uniCorn…that made me so happy. I love it. And now I don’t think of corncobs when I hear this name, I think of unicorns. (She would definitely need unicorn themed birthday parties)
I'm kind of surprised this name is so unpopular here. It fits right up there with (trendy) names like Aurelia and Amelia.
Has the word “corn” in it, and looks wanna-be pretty. Not a fan.
Corny.
I personally don't find it appealing because of the "corn" part, but I like Cordelia!
Sounds sorta annoying to me.
Corrie, Cora, Nelia, Nia, Ria and Celia could also work as nicknames.
I love this so much! And as for 'Corny' as a nickname, I would suggest you use Nelly or Lia instead.
I like how this is an anagram of Caroline.
Don't like the "corn" part.
I liked Cordelia better before but didn't dislike this name until I played Fire Emblem Three Houses. That ruined the name for me.
Here in Italy it isn't a very common name.
This name can have a very beautiful nickname : Lia.
I love this name! Regardless of whether with a K or C. I do like Cordelia too but I think Cornelia is much nicer. One of my music crushes has been Cornelis Vreeswijk and although I never plan on having children, I've always thought that if I had a girl, I'd name her Kornelia/Cornelia because it's such a lovely name in itself but also in honour of him. But nowadays I'd be much more hesitant because Kornelia is very popular over here, or in any case, its popularity is growing. I like the nickname Nellie a lot. It is a very classy, aristocratic name with an ancient feel, that has a lot of gentleness in it, but also some inner strength, so when I think of a Cornelia, I see a girl/woman who is relatively short, has fine features, chestnut hair, green eyes, might be a bit freckly. She looks noble - not like stately or very seriously, but has a lot of finesse about herself. She seems gentle, yet at the same time she has a steely will and ambition, is very agile, hyperactive and always does what she wants. She can be a bit bossy and tyrannical. But she has a kind heart, and deep down is very sensitive, gentle and extremely vulnerable. She is very smart and likes to act tough. She likes to draw attention to herself, is creative, always stands out from the crowd, is eccentric. She likes sports and music. Gets herself and others in trouble with surprising ease. She has a fiery temper. If she has a goal, she works towards it zealously. She is a spiritual person, and often experiences very extreme feelings. She is interested in all things paranormal, out there, in psychology, has a great intuition and is very empathetic. She has a lot of contradictions in her character which makes her a difficult but very interesting character. She has a tendency to isolate herself from others and think always in black or white. She needs safety and security, and despite what she likes to show, is not too self-assured. She's very artistic and easily moved by beauty. I actually don't know any Cornelias whatsoever, it is just the way I imagine a person with this name, not how I think all Cornelias are or should be.
Awesome name! I really like this name. It's really sweet but very strong.
This is my name, Cornelia Elena. I've always liked my name and felt it was unique, as I hadn't met another girl named this when growing up. I don't know why everyone is complaining about the word "Corn" being in it, even in English speaking countries, it's not pronounced like "Corn-eel-yah", I pronounce it, "Core-NEEL-yaw". No one calls me Corny either. Usually for nicknames, I am called Cori, Nele, or Nelly.
It's pretty and I like it... sounds kind of regal, flows nicely... yet, I have to prefer Cordelia, simply because I'm not sure how I feel about having "corn" in a name. >.< I think I'd rather not, given the option. (Makes me think of the masculine form, Cornelius, and how Thumbelina goes, "Cooorrrrrrnelius! Well, that's a funny name!")
But "Core" or "Neelie" would work well for nicknames.
This name just screams CORNY!
Lovely name. I like it much better than Cordelia.
I don't really like this name. Dated, and Lia would be better.
I think Cornelia is a beautiful name; it flows off the tongue like music. The new kitten we adopted in June is named Cornelia Rose. We call her "Nell". She is named after our Cornelius cat, who just died this week. I didn't care for the name when we adopted him in 1996, but I came to love the name as I loved my cat.
This is one of the most beautiful names out there, along with Anna. I love the name Cornelia--it is truly a princess' name in the 1300-1400s! :) So beautiful.
This is quite a nice name, although when I hear it, it reminds me of someone wearing horns. It's not unpleasant, although I prefer the name Cordelia, which sounds a lot better in my opinion. Nevertheless, Cornelia is still a lovely name, and Corrie is a great nickname. :)
Much less pretty than the name "Cordelia".
It's rather dated, and sounds like 'Corny Leah'.
A bit old fashioned, if you ask me, but I do love this name. :)
It's a beautiful name. Even though there's a bunch of awful nicknames, the actual name is a personal favorite. It's sweet sounding, and looks good when spelled.
It's pretty, but it does have the ''corn'' in it. I don't like any of the possible nicknames, like Nelly or Neely, and certainly not Corny!
My mum's name is Cornelia but everyone calls her Lia. Or even Li/Lee (my dad). My mum really hates her name, and I don't personally like it either. So I guess my child will never be named after my mum.
It is a beautiful name, it sounds very feminine and sweet.
If this is your name, make people call you Corny for short. I hate this name passionately.
For some reason I really abominate this name.
