I personally think it's an odd choice to name your kid after a group of people. I'm really referring to non-Cree people calling their kids this. Not sure if a Cree person would actually name their child "Cree", it's not my business. I've also heard that this is not what they call themselves, however I'm not Cree so I wouldn't know their preferred name. With all that being said, I do think as a given name it sounds a bit strange.
The Native American tribe that we call “Cree” don’t even call themselves Cree. To me, it seems like a very odd description for this name to say it only comes from the Cree tribe.
Good nickname for a name like Creed, where nicknames are hard to come by.
My sister is named Cree, she is very kind and respectful. It is not disrespectful- you guys are being very disrespectful to the name Cree, so think about what you guys are saying!
I think that unless you have a very good reason to use this name it's just disrespectful to the Cree tribe.
More like sCREE than Cree... Yeah not too good.
Has a rather creaky sound to it.
This is a great refreshing name for a boy. The meaning 'heart' is soo sweet! =D.
I love how because ONE famous person has a certain name, everyone thinks that is where it belongs. Because of Cameron Diaz and Evan Rachel Wood, Cameron and Evan can suddenly be "girl" names. Because of Dakota Fanning and Cree Summer, native tribes sound "girly". I know a boy named Dakota and a boy named Cree (Cree is actually actually part native and a really great kid) and the names look great on them. Also, Cheyenne Jackson is a famous performer is also a male with an native name. I like Cree for a boy and I think it fits a boy better.
My younger sister's name is Cree and I always thought it was a girls name. I personally like it as a girls name.
This is my middle name, and since I'm a girl, I find it more for a girl. But I think it would be an ok guy name.
I think it sounds more feminine, but I wouldn't use it for my child. And I'm also part Cree. :)
I like this for a girl and I see it as feminine more than masculine. Actually, now that I think of it, it's kind of nice for a boy, too.
I know a girl with the middle name Cree, so I think of it as feminine rather than masculine.
