I'm not black, so this name isn't one I'd use. But I'd like to point out that a variant of it, Dashon, is the name of an absolutely awesome African American bass baritone, Dashon Burton, born 1982. He's superbly gifted, with a deep velvety tone that enraptures and inspires, and while principally a specialist in sacred and baroque music, he has performed spirituals and protest songs too, as well as a piece on the Holocaust. I like the name Dashon because I associate it with him.
