I believe the name is pronounced eh-LAIR. Anyhow, I actually really like it, but for a girl. Despite its origin, it doesn't seem masculine at all. This also doesn't strike me as a commonly used name, even in Scotland, so it's not like if I ever names a girl Eallair, people would scrunch their faces and go, "Eallair? But that's a *boy's* name!" Eallair... very pretty.
Honest to God, when I first laid eyes on this name, my mind saw, "Eclair". Anyway, "ee-lair" ain't much better! No, on second thought, Eclair is better.
