I absolutely love this as a nickname - I would probably not use it as a full first name but would definitely choose this nickname for names like Estelle, Esther, etc. It's fresh and lovely but not too little-girly for a grown woman. Love it.

Reminds me of the nail polish company. I only like Essie as a nickname.

This was on the list for names we liked for our daughter. We were originally going to name her either Essiekia (pronounced ess-eek-ea) or Essiana (pronounced ess-e-ah-na) and we wanted to use Essie as a nickname. But we ended up settling for Chloney instead, so we didn't get to use this nickname for her.

Okay as a nickname but not a full given name. Sounds unfinished.

Essie could be a nickname for Esmonda or Esmeralda.

Essie is a very cute nickname for Elisaveta or Serena. I would use Elisaveta shortened to Essie.

My name is Essie. I was named after my grandmother. Her name was Essie Mae and mine is Essie Lynn. She was of French origin and always told me that my name meant "star". I was embarrassed of my name as a young girl because other kids would tease me and call me Elsie, which I didn't like at all.
As an adult I have come to be very proud to be called Essie because it reminds me of my grandmother and how everyone used to call her Miss Essie. Now knowing it is derived from Ester, and knowing the biblical story of Ester makes me smile just thinking of it.

Cute nickname for Esther.

My name is Esther and my brother-in-law has been calling me Essie for years. It has become my nickname in the family and even my nieces and nephews call me by it. I think it is a very sweet name.

This name is ok. It doesn't sound like a name by itself though but it could be short for something. I wouldn't name my kid this though because personally it reminds me of "easy" and I don't want the first impression of her name to be that she's easy.

I once knew a girl called Essie and her full name was Alessandra. I love the name Essie. I think it's very soft and feminine.

I don't like this nickname much, it sounds so child-like and old-fashioned.

I want to name my second daughter Esther and call her Essie, I think it's cute.
