This name is extraordinarily beautiful and mysterious. The shared etymology with words like “genial” makes the sound even more pleasant.
My name is Eugenia and as a child I hated it. I was named for my father whose middle name was Eugene. But as an adult I love the fact that it is so different. Hugs to my fellow Eugenia's out there.
I find it cute but I still prefer Eugenie over it.
I don't know why, but I rather like the name Eugenia. It's pretty, and not very common in the United States.
My mother, great grandmother and niece are named Eugenia. We are of Greek ancestry and in our part of Greece, it is customary for the firstborn daughter to be named after her maternal grandmother and the firstborn son is named after his paternal grandfather. As the previous person commented, Eugenia is a popular name in Greece and among descendants of Greeks abroad.
My name is Eugenia. I'm from Greece and here the name is quite well known. I got it from my grandmother. It is a custom here for the first child to be named after her/his father's parents. Kind of an old fashioned way to name your children, but I like my name and at least for now no one has ever told me anything negative.
My husband's grandmother was named Eugenia, and it's likely we will use this name in some way if we have a daughter. She was a poor, hard-working woman in the Philippines, and we are hardly "elitist snobs". There are a variety of reasons for choosing names and making assumptions about people's choices is pretty obnoxious.
Pretty name, but tough to pull off.
I like it. Not a name I would use, but for some reason it appeals to me! I'm fond of it.
This is my second-favorite girls' name. It's very beautiful.
I actually rather like this name for some weird reason. Fair enough, it is very old-fashioned, and the people who name their daghters Eugenia today are probably elitist snobs, but I like it all the same. I'm not nostalgic of the old times when this was a common name, but it has that old-fashioned, sophisticated elegance to it. A girl named Eugenia could always go by Jean, which may be dated itself, but is still quite common as a middle name, even if for rather unintelligent country girls. Or, she could go by Genia or Ginny. I won't use a variant of a name that has been the name of saints and popes, but I like this feminine name.
I think it's a harsh and ugly name like Eugine. I met a girl who's about to be fourteen with this name. I wonder what she thinks of it.
