Hussein

It's an okay name. I don't associate it with Saddam Hussein.

Oh, wow. I didn't think some people could stoop so low. This is a very popular surname for Muslims, yet people somehow have the nerve to judge it harshly over this Saddam Hussein person? If you're like the moronic user "slight night shiver" and think the use of this name is a "political, creepy statement" then that means you are going to be VERY paranoid meeting Muslims in the future. Muslims DON'T give their child this name because they want to honour Saddam Hussein (they honestly don't give a flying f*** over him as they have better things to think about). They simply... wait for it... LIKE this name (is that reason new to some people? Islamaphobes are strangely finding this concept difficult to comprehend). Some may be naming their child after a family member and others just want to name their child after a figure in Islam of this name a.k. a 'Husayn ibn Ali', the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. So, uhh... SOME people need to get their so-called facts straight and quit imagining mad political scenarios!

This is my last name (the I and E are switched around though). This is a great name and is much more common than Joseph in the middle east. It has nothing to do with Saddam, it has important religious connotations.

Hussein is probably just as common name as say Joseph so people should stop connecting this name with Saddam Hussein. It's a great name.

There is NOTHING wrong with this name! First of all, it was Saddam's LAST name. Many Muslims still use Hussein because it's a common name, and was way before Saddam came to power. However, I'd only recommend it on a Muslim. On a non-Muslim, it will equal bullying for life.

People should cut the crap and stop claiming that this name can be compared to Joseph because of Stalin. Joseph is a very common name, and can be associated with many people. If you pick this name, people will think of Saddam Hussein, and they'll think the name is a political, creepy statement.

This name is just as common as Joseph in the middle East and is given to boys because of religious connotations. And besides, it was his last name (which he had no control over). If some inbred rednecks think if I name my son Hussein after Saddam, then they are just showing the world how impossibly stupid they are.

Well do you not like the name Joseph because it reminds you of Josef Stalin? Or maybe you don't like the name Timothy because it reminds you of Timothy McVeigh?
