I like a lot of Jac- names. Maybe I don't like Jackie quite as much as I do Jack, but I still do, I think it's really cute, while at the same time I wouldn't say it sounds childish and it has a certain strength to it. That being said though, I still much prefer it as a nickname for Jacqueline, I think it's more serious than just Jackie alone, and also Jackie seems to be more dated in the English-speaking world than Jacqueline. I can definitely imagine a young Jackie, but when I hear it on someone my first thought is that they must be middle-aged. For a boy, I only see Jackie as a nickname, definitely not a full form, and I think I'd rather spell it Jacky. Jacky would be very endearing as an affectionate nickname for Jack, but as a full name it really doesn't sound suitable for an adult man to me.
Honestly this name fits on a girl/non-binary person more than it does with a boy, I just can’t see it working well on them.
My name is Jacqueline but I go by Jackie. My paternal grandfather's name was Jack so my parents named me for him. I was the only Jackie in my class as well as the whole grade in grammar school. People have asked me if I was named after Jacqueline Kennedy...nope! I was 5 years old when President Kennedy was elected! I must say, I think Mrs. Kennedy was such an elegant lady and the way she pronounced her name ~ "JackLEEN" was perfect for her. I could not pull that off!
I have this as a male name in my fanfic. His two older brothers use it to tease him. Besides his brothers, everyone just calls him Jack.
This name just sounds so dated now-- like something from the 1950's or 1960's. When a guy named Jack gets called Jackie it's often because someone is insinuating that he's effeminate and not a real man. They're making fun of him.
Could also be short for Jacintha.
I prefer just Jack for a boy, or Jacky, but Jackie as a girls nickname. I know a Jackie as a full name and she's female.
The name Jackie is very cute. The ie makes it so girly! Always a favorite for me!
I like this as a nickname. Please don't actually put this on your daughter's birth certificate, though.
I really dislike my given name (it's so boring, don't you know?), so I go by Jackie instead. It suits me quite well, but, you know, you'd have to be careful, not everybody is as unconventional as I, and some people hate the name.
I don't like this name. It seems too masculine for a girl but too feminine for a boy.
In my opinion, Jackie doesn't sound like a good name or nickname for girl, but I do think it sounds like a nice name or nickname for a boy.
Jackie sounds like a girl's name more than a boy's name.
I like this name. I think it's very nice.
My name is Jacqueline, but everyone calls me Jackie. I really like it, and everyone who meets me says that they love it. I think it is a great name for girls, but I don't really like it as a boy name - it just sounds too feminine.
Jackie is the best name mostly because it's mine! I think it's really cool.
My sister's name is Jacquelyn and we usually call her Jackie. I think it's a cute nickname.
I don't like the name Jacqueline or Jack, but I somehow do like Jackie. It sounds very cute but strong at the same time. :D
This is what I get called, since my name is Jacqueline. I think it is a wonderful name. I have only had it misspelled two ways (Jacquie and Jacky). I think this is a really good name. For one thing, it suits adults as well as children, males as well as females. And also when used on a female, it is good for a lady/girly girl as well as hoyden/tomboy (I fit the latter description, and it suits me perfectly).
I haven't met anyone named Jackie, actually. But it's cute, for boys and girls.
I think this name is a little too common. Every middle aged woman that you meet is called Jackie. Ditto for Linda Marion, Barbara and Sandra.
Um I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you, not every middle aged woman is named Jackie.
