I adore Jude by itself, but I also love it as a nickname for Judah. There were TWO people called Judas in the bible. One betrayed Jesus, but the other was his apostle! So you could just think of the second one. A gorgeous name.
Such a cute biblical name!
This is a very handsome name for a little boy. I kinda love it and would love to hear it on someone's little boy.
Awesome, handsome. I love the name Judah!
Nice. I prefer Judas though.
A truly great name, one for the books.
I woke from a dream with the name Judah filling my mind in the days before my son was born. Before the dream my wife had put forward Jude as a suggestion and I knocked it back. For the cynics out there that might explain the origin of my dream. But for me it was more than a dream. It was a confirmation. We will probably use Jude as a nickname. Judah says to us that God in the Old Testament builds his kingdom not on the first born, or even the most successful (ie. Joseph) but instead he builds his kingdom with broken people who acknowledge their brokenness and seek God's righteousness. It’s good enough for me that Judas Escariot ultimately loved the lord. Whether he intentionally betrayed Jesus or was a pawn in the gospel story he too can enter relationship with God through the miracle of his love and grace. All babies are a grace to us, and our Judah Rain is every bit a grace and his name is perfect. Thank you Lord.
I know two Judahs and both are Christadelphians (like me) I love the name Judah because of its meaning and it's Hebrew. I'm surprised so many people think that Judah is who betrayed Christ, it wasn't, it was 'Judas'.
My wife and I are about to name our 2nd son Judah. We love that his name means "Praise" because we believe that our children are such an unbelievable gift from God. I just became a Christian 5 yrs ago. However, I know how doubtful/skeptical I was of the "religious types" before becoming a Christian myself so I'll just have to encourage my boys to be strong, positive young men if some in society do not relate well to their Hebrew/Biblical names.
LOVE Judah! Judah Benjamin is so masculine and cute!
I have a friend named Judah. (: He's one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. (And no, he's not Jewish. He's a Christian). His middle name is Benjamin. (: I love this name.
I like this name. It sounds strong, has a rich history, and a beautiful meaning. I prefer it to the name Judas not because of the latter's association with the betrayal of Jesus, but simply because I think Judas sounds a little too Greek. It is a Hebrew name, after all. Because of its meaning, Judah has become more frequently used among Christian families. It's still somewhat uncommon, but it's not rare.
What's up with this name? This name is an obvious sign that the parents are fundamentalists. And it sounds too close to the taboo name Judas.
I hate the idea of Judah the "traitor who murdered Jesus"- I think that only because he had this name it created a bad image for all Jews (called "jehudim"). I wonder if Christians call their children "Judah"?
I always felt that this name was not only unique in these modern times but had such a rich strong history. When I was pregnant with my second son I knew he would become my strength and so I named him Judah.
