This sounds like it should be a kitchen utensil. Tanya is 1000x better. Plus, it doesn't sound as stupid as Latanya does.
The "la" ruins it.
I like this name and others like it, it has so much more flare and uniqueness than boring old Emma or Ella.
Sounds kind of Italian to me. I mean the flow of it.
Oh well... I have lost faith in humanity.
I have a cousin with this name, and growing up I always assumed it was 'normal' by American standards. I didn't realize that other people interpreted it as trashy. Now that I'm older, I understand these opinions a little better but I still disagree with them. My cousin is a funny young woman and we call her Tanya all the time anyway, so I don't think this name is that strange.
I agree with icecoldhot. Although, I wouldn't choose the name personally, it sounds fun and I would interpret that the bearer has a positive and extroverted personality. I don't typically label these created names as 'trashy' but rather as names with a bit of character and uniqueness. I hope that people will begin to understand that parents have a right to name their children whatever they wish and just because a name sounds 'exotic' or 'unusual' doesn't mean that the bearer is informal or can't be taken seriously.
The prefix makes it very trashy. English speakers have pretty much ruined the name Tanya anyway, as it always kind of makes me think about porn stars.
Dreadful! Tanya is a lovely name and this just throws it away.
This name, like Latoya, is one I loathe. It seems tacky to me.
This is a pretty cool name. It's pretty. But it doesn't seem very common.
