My grandfather, great-grandfather, and second great-grandfather were all named LaVerne. It's not a name I would choose, but I appreciate the family connection.

I love this name and the association with Laverne Cox. She is such a great role model, and I would love to have my child be able to share a name with someone like her.

I happen to really like this name, and I also happen to love the TV show Laverne and Shirley. This would also make a nice middle name.
