I also bear this name, and was also told that it means "Sea" and "Sky" as in "Mar" and "Cielo". Maybe it's because a confusion, in Italian it's "Marcello" in which "cello" sounds identical to "cielo" in Italian... said in Spanish sounds as "chelo" which is my nickname.Taking this into consideration, a lot of people have this name as "Sea and Sky" and not as a variation of "Marcus" (which sounds very different if you ask me). Maybe take this as a second meaning. In my opinion, I like to think I'm like the ocean and the sky, calm and resourceful yet dangerous when upset. That's better than being just another man of war.
I am a bearer of this name. My mother told me that my name means "sea and sky" in Spanish.
