Marianela Alcantar.

My great-grandmother's name was Nela. I was given the name Marianela as a variation on her name. My entire life I have had nothing but issues with people not knowing how to pronounce it. It always baffles me because it's not that hard. A few weeks ago someone was handing me my order, they look down at the receipt confused, and then say, umm I don't know how to say whatever that is... and then proceeds to read off my items to make sure it's my order. So rude. I get that all the time. Is it the number of letters? Is it that it starts with Maria and then people are like oh no what is this ethnic name that scares me. I have no idea but it's been a constant in my life with this name. I prefer to go by Maria instead, it's made life easier.
