There's an air of secret charm folded within the navel of this precious flower: some may think Marnie plain or weird, but for me it is a pleasure which, admittedly, I don't believe I've ever brought up before. Thousands of dreams and mysteries sprout to life at the memory of "When Marnie Was There," one of the several beautiful movies which has inspired me to write for others in recent years. Whispering, sighing, rippling at her mystique, Marnie tells a story as bewitching as any children's tale or classic novel.
This doesn't sound like a name.
This is one of my favorite names. I heard it from the movie “When Marnie Was There.” (Amazing movie) Anyways, if you have this name you’re lucky and automatically more beautiful :-).
Such a cute name! It's really uncommon in the UK so it makes a lovely, unique name. Pairing it with a more common name like Marnie Grace or Marnie Rose is so beautiful! I think it will age well and it is becoming more popular :)
My father named me Marnie after the Hitchcock film. I can honestly say that life with this name has been anything but easy. I was bullied relentlessly for it. As an adult trying to do business, people have a difficult time understanding it or trying to spell it. I get comments about how weird it is or if it’s a nickname. I’m glad people like it more these days. I’m still considering changing it.
I love this name! It's in my top 3 girls names (Rose, Willow, Marnie) and I also think the Studio Ghibli movie is amazing. :)
As a fan of the Studio Ghili movies, I can't help but not love the name Marnie. So cute! Better than Maisie or Markie in my opinion. What I would do is give my daughter a long name (like Marion, Marina, Marna, Marsha, Marcelline, Mariam, Marlena, Marlene, Mariella, etc) and then affectionately nickname her Marnie. I think it is the most appropriate option, from my point of view.
I’m absolutely in LOVE with the name Marnie. It is unusual without being totally uncommon. The meanings “of the sea” and “rejoice” are beautiful and it sounds fun, yet pretty and spunky. A top contender for a daughter one day. My only concern is how it sounds like a nickname, but in a generation of Alfie’s, Lillies, Evie’s and Maisie’s, I think Marnie will be fine. The animated film “When Marnie Was There” had me in love!
I had a science teacher whose first name is Marnie and she was the sweetest and funniest person. I personally love this name!
Sounds pretty. I think it will age well.
I really hate this name. It sounds like the name of a pretentious liberal young woman who only listens to obscure indie rock music and constantly complains about sexism in video games.
I do like the name, because of the character in The Raging Quiet. Not my absolute favorite, but I like it and think it has an Irish/Scottish feel to it, probably because of the book.
