Maude isn't Maude without Ned...
Maude would make a good middle name (not that there's anything wrong with it as a first name).
Maudlin means tearfully sentimental. Maud(e) reminds me of the color mauve, which I think is a unique, pretty shade.
Very beautiful and strong. I would have a hard time using it, perhaps as a middle name. It is very pretty written, and I think ‘Maudie’ as a nickname is wonderful.
Absolutely in love with the strength and meaning of the name Maude "battle-mighty" and the colors it brings to mind being soft pinks and dusty lavenders. I will absolutely consider it when naming my child.
In these days unusual, rare. However, strong name, has class and just, Maude is good!
Love this.
This is my middle name. My mother has this as a middle name, my grandmother had it, and also my my great grandmother. I had a great great aunt that Maude was her first name. Growing up in the eighties and nineties I hated this as my middle name. Now, as an adult I appreciate it and if I ever have a daughter one day I will give her Maude as a middle name as well.
Would not recommend this name. I have this name and it's my number one insecurity.
I like this way better than Maud.
I really don’t like this name. Reminds me of a grumpy old lady.
This name carries the aura of old English...18th Century. As a child she would have been called Maudie. Since eventually "everything old is new again," I assume this name will be in vogue again one of these days. As an example I can't believe people today are naming their daughters Hazel. That was my grandmother's name and she was born in 1900. When I was naming my children in the 1980's my grandmother would have loved to have had a child named after her but there was just no way my sisters and I could hang that on a kid. The same goes for Maude, Gertrude and Lucille, etc. Good enough names in their day I suppose but just not for the 21st Century.
It doesn’t really sound appealing :(
I dislike Maude because of the final "e" that in this case seems too frilly. Maud is better.
It's not likely a name I'd choose for any of my children but it does have a certain charm to it. I have an outdoor kitty I named Maude - named for Judd Apatow's daughter after IMDbing "Knocked Up".
This name sounds stupid. It's not a good name for a person or a pet. How could someone consider this name? It's a bad choice.
Much more feminine looking than Maud.
I never thought I would, but I am starting to like this name. I would only use it as a middle name though because otherwise I don't think my child would ever forgive me. Actually, I think I may just reserve it for the 'At one time I was thinking of calling you' stories that parents always tell their children.
