Shockingly, this name is sort of a one-hit wonder! It only was used during the 70s only a total of 29 times according to the USA Social Security Administration. That's a shame because I think the meaning of this name could mean "sweet flower" or "dark flower" because the 'Mel' part of Melantha could be related to honey like "Melissa" means bee in Greek or it could be related to 'dark' like Melanie.https://www.behindthename.com/name/melissa

Unique and gorgeous.
Encountered it in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire (Melantha Stark née Blackwood) and it's so alluring and mysterious! Both dark (melas-) and honey (meli-) are pretty affixes to anthos.
I love this.
This is a beautiful twist on Melissa, although Melissa isn’t a bad name itself.
I love how much history Melantha has. It sounds much more interesting then Melanie, plus, how often do you meet girls and women named Melantha?
Sounds like a body part, but the scientific term, or a disease.
I think Melantha is smooth and beautiful. My mother, on the other hand, is convinced that it sounds like the name of a body part.
This is a very beautiful name. I love it.
