The more common form of the Marian title is la Mare de Déu de Núria (literally, the Mother of God of Núria). The same goes for other Catalan Marian titles (Our Lady of Montserrat is la Mare de Déu de Montserrat, Our Lady of Meritxell is la Mare de Déu de Meritxell, etc).
There are two variants:
-from the Basque words: N-URI-A = Valley
-from the Arabic: NUR = light, shine and its strictly feminine form NURA
Pronounced "NOO-ree-ah". Its origins might be Basque but it's possibly influenced by the Arabian name Nuriya "bright, shiny".
