Shamira is from the root "shamir" (שָׁמִיר), which means a point or a thorn. Shamir was a watchtower in Ephraim where the judge Tola dwelt. The root "shamir" comes from the root "shamar" (שָׁמַר), meaning "to watch, observe, keep guard".
