Shaun

My older half-sister, from my dad’s first marriage, born in 1986, told me a few weeks ago when I was browsing on this website and she caught a glimpse of this name. That back in her grade school and high school years, it was a very common boy’s name along with its other variants like Shawn, Shane and Sean.
Judging from the popularity data graphs on this website and others, e.g., the SSN data base, would support that assertion on its heyday being during the eighties and nineties. Placing such factors aside, I think it is an ok name, a bit dated, but not bad at all.

It looks dumbed down. Just use Seán. People will learn how to spell it.

Out of Sean, Shawn and Shaun, Shaun is definitely my most favorite and preferred spelling. If I were to ever use this name for a son, I'd go with the spelling of Shaun (:

This is my name, and I'm certainly proud of it. During my younger years, being called Shaun the Sheep (or Shaun Prawn by one of my sisters) got a little frustrating, but I felt pretty cool near the end of secondary school when students called me Shaun of the Dead. :D.

It's a nice name, but honestly, it just reminds me of Shaun the sheep.

This is my favorite way to spell the name Sean. It is pronounced the way it looks and Shawn is used more often as a girl name.

Can't stand this spelling, to be honest. It seems effeminate. Really, only the original Irish spelling Sean should be used.

Shaun is my husband's name. I love it, but no one ever spells it right. He thinks it's a girl's name.

This name to me is of distinguishing personality. Of elegance, pride and honor.
