To everyone spouting nonsense about this being an 'old Gaelic name': You're thinking of the name 'Síle', which you may have seen misspelled 'Sheila'. Shayla is a modern American name. It's NOT Gaelic or Irish - I don't care if your grandfather's sister's neighbour's dog may have once seen a potato, it doesn't make you or your name Irish.
