I wanted to see if the English word "Sin" shared etymology with the name of a Babylonian god, and it looks like that's not the case: the etymology of the modern word "Sin" is Germanic, though ultimately derived from Latin, and appears to have nothing to do with this language family. Still, this is probably a name from ancient mythology best left for the history books.
