Sometimes, I wish commenting on certain names like this was NOT allowed. Personally, I respect this as a Khmer name that means "Wisdom", but not as an English variant of the given name Sophia.

I love Sophea as a girl’s name. I don’t like it for a boy at all! This is supposed to be a variant of Sophia, a trendy girl’s name. This name sounds strictly feminine to me.

Maybe it seems like a variant of Sophia to you, but it is not, and it has completely different origins in a completely different language and culture. Don't make assumptions about something if you don't know the full story!
