Stéphane seems unpopular. However, it's classic and elegant to me, somehow reminds me of a bishop, or a writer like Stéphane Mallarmé (His original name was Étienne, which shows that he agreed Stéphane is better in some senses). Names that end with -phane/phone/phore/phile give me an ethereal and mythical feeling. A great alternative of Stephen/Steven kinds.
