Fine as a diminutive.
I think that Tilly is a pretty and cute name; I prefer its sound to Lily. It’s also not as common as Lily.
Sweet. I had a dog named Tilly.
Tilly is a cute nickname for Matilda.
I LOVE the name Tilly, but I do think it is a very childish name. I think of like a 6 year old girl when I hear this name.
Sounds stupid.
I love Matilda, but I really dislike Tilly. It sounds silly, childish, and even a bit country.
Only like it if short for Matilda. Tilly on its own is too much of a nickname and sounds like a fluffy dog's name.
Rhymes with silly. Don’t really like it.
My late grandma's name. Will name my future daughter after her.
Oh my God, Tilly sounds so darn cute and pretty! A perfect name for a girl. ^__^
It's nice as a nickname, but as a proper first name it just sounds silly (silly Tilly, although I suppose you could say that about lots of other names) and infantile.
Yes, this name sounds like silly and is kind of childish. But I like it anyways, and it's my favorite nickname for Matilda. Mattie just sounds harsh to me.
Still not the biggest fan of this name, but its slowly growing on me (as a nickname for Matilda, not as a full name) I really like Mattie as a nickname for Matilda but it sounds like the overused and childish Maddie... So maybe I'd use Tilly. My favorite is still just Matilda though :)
Very cute, and I think I like it better than Lily! I am moving back to my home nation from abroad and would name my daughter this. Tilly is unheard of in my nation, but currently, Lili is popular there, along with Lilla and Lotti, so I think Tilly is not too far in terms of style and pronunciation than Lili, Lilla and Lotti. I don't like deviations, but I actually like a boy's name which is again, not used in my country and for me, my children's name have to match in style.
I think Tilly is a good name for a dog.
Utterly gorgeous, and refreshing on a young child. I like it as a nickname for Ottilie.
I never cared for this name before, but now I think it's truly cute--except for I think I prefer Tillie.
It might be cute on a pet, but not for a human child. Leave this one to rest in the grave of outdated names where it belongs.
This sounds like a good name for a little girl in the 1930's.
Sounds little-girl-like, yet like the name of old women. See, this probably sounded okay on little girls back in the 1920s, but they grew up, and that's when the name sounded too immature. I guess people learned from that mistake. Don't bring this name back.
