Possibly means "songbird" in Chickasaw, perhaps from the Chickasaw taloowa 'sing, chanter' and foshi 'bird'.A noted bearer is Tessie "Lushanya" Mobley (1906 - 1990), who was part Chickasaw. She was a world renown opera singer, sometimes called 'Songbird of the Chickasaws'. She apparently chose the name Lushanya, believing it to mean 'songbird'.
