Meaning & History

Means "all-fair" in French. This is the name of the princess in Madame d'Aulnoy's fairy tale ''The Yellow Dwarf'' (1697). Toutebelle is a beautiful but vain princess who is promised to an ugly dwarf, but decides to marry a king instead. She is later kidnapped by the dwarf. When the king goes to save her, the dwarf murders him leading Toutebelle to die of grief.
